Hey gang, Timber with Laundry Company with another B’town insider tip for you. Your students will be back on campus next month and I’ll have plenty of Bloomington info for you. But since it’s summer Imwant to let you in on something awesome that is connected with IU. Camp Brosius in and IU owned family camp on Lake Elkhart in central Wisconsin! We’ve always wanted to go and after a one year delay due to a family Covid outbreak, we finally made it this summer.
Brosius is an old School family camp kind of like you used to see in the Catskills. (Think Dirty Dancing) There are programs for pre schoolers through adults. The camp staff are mostly college students, many from IU but some as far away as Scotland!
Kristine and I took our 14 year old son. He had an absolute blast and met so many new friends. About the only time we saw him was at wake up and bedtime.
There are a variety of housing choices. We had a cabin with two bunk beds and a sink. Bathrooms and showers were next door. There are “rougher” accommodations as well as something more like a nice hotel.
Kristine and I met some great new adult friends as well. We enjoyed lake hikes, archery, pickleball, euchre, etc. But our favorite adult time was sneaking to the beautiful lakeside town of Elkhart Lake Village. It’s like a postcard! We spent several evenings at the “Tiki Bar” listening to music and getting to know our new friends.
The camp has six one week sessions starting in mid June. If you are interested you need to get signed up early as the place fills up nearly every week. More info is available here. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
Note: if you sign up for week 3 the first round at the Tiki bar is on me!
Till next time,
Timber
